The Difference Between Public and Private Courses
At Burningsuit Ltd we run several different courses across the year training attendees on the fundamentals of Microsoft Power BI. We have monthly public courses running in London that anyone can sign up to join, and we also hold private, onsite courses that are specifically for your business and team members.
It can be difficult to know what is the best option for your company, so below we have listed some of the benefits and finer details of what each type of course means.
This should make it easier for you to decide what’s the best option for you and your team.
Benefits of our public courses
Learn the basics of Power BI as a whole
Our public courses cover a wide range of topics across the whole of Power BI and are great for giving an in depth, general overview of the platform as a whole.
Across the two day course you can expect to cover the following:
- What is Microsoft Power BI?
- Exploring the Power BI Desktop
- Understanding Data Sources in Power BI Desktop
- Power BI Desktop Visualisations Workshop
- Creating a Data Model in Power BI Desktop
- Introduction to DAX in Power BI Desktop
- Using Queries in Power BI Desktop
- Publishing to Power BI Service
- Power BI Service Data Import
- Apps and Groups
- Data Refresh
- Using Power BI on Mobile Devices
Gain a practical working knowledge
Our public courses aren’t just us demonstrating and explaining the tools. We provide all the necessary equipment needed for you to undertake different tasks and learn in a practical way. As a result, skills learnt are better transferred to the working environment.
Extremely knowledgeable trainers
Our trainers are fully qualified and extremely knowledgeable about all things Microsoft Power BI, so if you have any questions whilst you are on our two day training course, they will be able to answer these and help you understand the program more. If you would like more information about a certain topic whilst on the course, we can always extend certain sections to cover this.
We also have a after course email support service, where attendees are able to email us with any further questions they may have about Power BI and our team can help you answer these.
Benefits of our private course
Completely tailored experience
Our private courses are completely based on your business’ needs and requirements. We will discuss with you exactly what it is that your staff need training on and tailor our training sessions to focus on these areas.
There is no need for you to organise your equipment as we provide all of the necessary hardware and software, including laptops, that you will need to undertake the training sessions.
Organise as many sessions as you need
As well as tailoring your sessions to exactly what skills your team need to focus on, we are really flexible when it comes to scheduling in a time for the training that’s convenient to you. Whether you need one or 20 sessions, we will work around you and schedule in as many as you need. If after a few months you would like more sessions with us, we will be happy to organise the best time and dates in advance.
Include any amount of team members
We can train as many team members as required on the Power BI system, so there is no need to worry about leaving people out. You can also pick and choose which staff members need to attend certain sessions, so they are all learning the most relevant topics to their job role.
If you have staff members with different skill levels already on Power BI, we can arrange sessions based on this to ensure that all attendees are learning to their level of knowledge.
How they work together
Whether you think the public course or private course is best for your company, they are both great ways for getting into Power BI and getting a fantastic insight into how the platform works.
With both options we provide an after email service for any further questions or queries. This means that you can still keep in touch with us if you have any further questions or requirements for learning about Power BI
In a lot of cases our clients use our public course as a tester to see if Power BI is the right step for them. If this is something you are interested in learning more about, it is a great idea to try out our public course and then book further private courses that are tailored exactly to your business’ needs.
This is how Heathrow Airport and Berry Bros. & Rudd started off their Power BI journey.
